John & Kris Sloane

Welcome to Sloane Dental

Founded over 30 years ago, by John and Kris Sloane, our dental  team comprises of highly skilled and knowledgeable professionals. We all have a common goal – Creating a Smile that Lasts a Lifetime!

Practice Owner:  John W. Sloane, DMD was born in Pennsylvania and in 1980 graduated from Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia.  Dr. Sloane moved to Florida after his graduation and built and opened up his own solo practice… first in Ormond Beach, and then later to his current location in South Daytona in 1986.  An avid music lover and violinist as well, Dr. Sloane had also been admitted to Julliard School of music and had to make a career decision.  He ultimately decided he could be a dentist and still play the violin…which he did for years in the local Daytona Symphony.   After doing dentistry for 22 years, an accident caused a back injury which ended his ability to treat patients.  Kris and he decided to maintain the office as she was not ready to retire, and he could still own the business.  His presence is still felt daily as lifelong patients comment on his great care and humorous outlook, putting them at ease while in the chair.  He still believes, “Your Smile CAN Last a Lifetime!” which has become our office motto…helping people keep their teeth and maintain good oral health from childhood through their senior years.

Business Manager:  Kris Sloane has been the business manager since the dental practice opened in 1981.  Handling all aspects of the front desk from insurance to patient education has been an unexpected career. Born in NJ, Kris attended Trenton State College with a degree in Elementary Education in 1970.  She taught at Spruce Creek HS for 3 yrs. (English and Math) and has been married to Dr. John Sloane for 30 years. When work is done, Kris enjoys reading, TV, computers, gardening, travel, piano, cultural events and the theater.  Kris has a daughter, Leigh, who graduated from UF and is a local 5th grade teacher, and her 2 stepdaughters, Vicki and Lori.  Lori and her husband Angelo are employed in the law enforcement field and added 2 granddaughters to the family. Not to be left out are John and Kris’ 2 miniature schnauzers, which they are happy to spoil as well.

Tauseef Bhatti, DDS

Tauseef Bhatti, DDS began treating patients at our office in January 2019.  He was born in Orlando, FL. and graduated from UCF with a degree in Molecular and Microbiology in 2009.  He continued on to dental school and graduated from New York State University (NYU) in 2014.  After graduation from dental school, Dr. Bhatti did a 1 year General Practice Residency at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY.  Always interested in new techniques and innovations in dentistry, he continues to attend various seminars and the Spear Orlando Study Club.  His latest completed coursework has been in the field of placement of dental implants, as well as their final crown restorations.

Dr. Bhatti met his wife at NYU, where she too attended dental school.  They married and moved back to Orlando, where she practices 4 days a week.  Although he resides in Central FL . to be near is parents and other family members, he enjoys the ride over to Daytona to be with us!

Dental Hygienist:  Edward Ramos, RDH has been our dental hygienist since 2015.  He was born in the Philippines, where he obtained a degree as a dentist.  However, as his license is not applicable in the USA, and not wanting to go through dental school again at this point in his life, Ed obtained a dental hygiene degree. He added an anesthetic certificate from the University of Florida in Gainesville.  Owning an apartment in NYC, he resided and worked there for many years before buying a home near the beach here.  Edward loves to travel and visit his large family in NJ and in Manila. He is also our in-house treat maker…loves to cook and make us smile.  He is a big believer in “Gentle Dental” treatment …and patients love him for it!

Sloane Dental Assistant Nicole Emplit

Dental Assistant:  Nicole Emplit, RDA has been our dental assistant for over 26 years!  Driving every workday from her Palm Coast home, the dedication to her career and patients is obvious as all love to see her smiling face.   Nicole was born in Belgium, and then moved as a child with her family to Canada, relocating once more to Miami, and ultimately to the Daytona area.  She loves to speak in fluent French to our local” Canadian Snowbirds”.  Nicole has two children…her son is a contractor in Palm Coast, and her married daughter resides in Tallahassee, where she is a lawyer.  Her 3 dogs are part her lifelong love of all creatures, including the office squirrels she feeds. Truly a most caring person!

Front Desk:  Vicki Sloane joined her father’s practice in 2014 as our Front Desk Receptionist and Insurance Specialist.   Born in Daytona Beach, she attended HS in Palm Coast, and then on to UCF in Orlando, graduating with a degree in Psychology.  Married in Las Vegas to her husband Steve in 2009, they have a son, Aiden…the Sloane’s first grandchild.  Loving dogs, the family adopted a lab named Lucy from the Humane Society and enjoy all her antics!  Vicki has wonderfully settled in here to help manage the family business.

Kris, Dr. Sloane and the entire staff at Sloane Dental are wonderful. Anyone who wants to be treated like family in a warm caring environment, instead of like a number at one of the cold, impersonal mega-dental practices that seem to be popping up everywhere, I highly recommend this terrific local, family dental practice!

There is no question as to the warm and efficient reception you will receive at this dental office. Kristine is the ultimate office manager with great heart. Dr. Cates and the entire staff create a professional group with which to entrust your dental needs. You will not regret choosing Sloane Dental

This dental office is so welcoming and friendly, that it is not hard to relax! All my dental work has been beautiful, and I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes until I am seen. Anytime there has been an emergency in my family, Kris gets me in the same day :)
